So it turns out my website's backend is slightly busted - a few fields are flagged as required that shouldn't be, and as a consequence I'm unable to actually, you know, update project information. Will update y'all in a bit on GDLeen progress once things are less broken.

Hi everyone, just dropping a quick message to note that the next site update will be three weeks from today (Oct 25.) See you then!

Hi everyone,
There's an awful lot to talk about, an awful lot that's happened in the last few years that the site has been silent. Some of that's personal and isn't really appropriate for this feed, but there's a ton of news on a bunch of different projects that needs to get shared, and a number of pages on the site are a little creaky with age as well. So for the next little while I'll be posting updates on Mondays and on Thursdays with project news, with site infrastructure updates as they occur.
For today, you'll note that I've removed the "wanted" link from the hotbar; the information in it was old and misleading, it was an extremely manual process to keep it up to date, and in general it is no longer needed. I've replaced it with an invite link to the Aeon Genesis discord. The rules are basically the same as the forum rules.
Of particular note is that several years ago I set up a task and bug tracker, and I've grown to greatly appreciate tickets in the system for keeping track of what needs to be done on a given project. The task lists aren't exhaustive (in particular, one game only has two tasks: "translate the script" and "insert the script") but more get added as projects mature. Additionally, any updates to tickets on public projects are echoed to a channel on the discord. Consider the site to be big-picture news, while the ticket feed is much more fine-grain. You won't see individual bug fix updates on the website, but if you're interested in following the day-to-day, the discord is the way to go.
More soon!

Oh, this incident? It's because of plasma. Plasma explains everything.
But we can't be sure so you shouldn't go outside. There's no scientific basis for believing it's safe out there.
To learn more about plasma, come find me during PAX East and watch this space during the weekend of April 6-8 where we will be announcing two major projects, showing off new work on other projects, and maybe even releasing a patch for a game I haven't even looked at since 2004! Our presentation at the show will include live actual-hardware demos of translations, and maybe even an actual-hardware gag reel demo of SRW Alpha Gaiden if we're super super lucky!

If you're going to be at PAX East too, you can join us! I'm going to be running a Thing in the Classic Games Freeplay Room at some point over the weekend, but I'm not exactly sure when yet. I'll be taking questions on the process and on progress, there will be trivia, a chance to play some of our stuff on a real console, and with a little luck and some elbow grease, at least two secret projects making their debut, one of which I'm sure a lot of people will be frothing for, IF you get my meaning! I'm not the only one who'll be there, too; Niahak (of the "Jesus: Dreadful Bio-Monster" NES translation) will be there, Excellen (SRW Alpha Gaiden translator extraordinaire) might be there, and while I can't promise anything, we just might have MathOnNapkins, who's writing a replacement for the Hyrule Magic editor for The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
I'll try to post details here as they arrive, but more likely than not I won't have anything else until after the convention starts. We're going to try to make it so that it doesn't interfere with much similar stuff, but there's always something interesting going on, so it's going to be tough. If you're following me on Twitter you'll get up-to-the-minute news about our mini-event as it happens, too.
As for the site itself, I have updates on at least one or two other projects of High Interest that need to get posted, but I want to space out updates some, so that'll come in the next couple of days. Enjoy the wait!

To make a long story short, life has been busy. I've gone back to school with a full course load for a computer science degree, and I'm still working 36 hours per week, so my free time is at a premium lately and AGTP-related stuff has been moving more slowly than I think any of us would like (myself included!)
HOWEVER! That doesn't mean I'm giving up, oh no. There's a lot of stuff happening in the background, some of which will be announced shortly. In fact, I have a release coming, hopefully this weekend! It's something small I picked up about a month ago with the hope that it'd be a simple, easy, quick project. It turned out to be a massive headache and way more than I'd bargained for, but it's been playtested and I only have one more bit to hack before it's done, and with luck that'll happen today.
More news soon, all willing!

In the unlikely event that anyone reading this attends UMass Amherst, the ACM is hosting a hackathon tomorrow from 6PM 'til redeye. I'll be there, working on... something. Not sure what yet. Here's the website: UMass ACM
In the meantime, here's what I've been working on lately.

Not much news, unfortunately. I'd hoped to get Hourai out this week, but I've been bogged down by exams and assignments for school, and as such I haven't had time to work on it at all. Sorry! But yeah, AGTP was founded on March 7 1999, which I think makes it twelve years old. So hurray!
In other news, I'm going to be at PAX East this weekend. If you're there, you might see me! I'll be posting some stuff to my twitter feed as it happens and I'm planning on attending the Alexander O. Smith localization panel (Friday night... tonight really, I suppose) so those are your best chances of finding me. I'm usually wearing a Kangol driving cap and carry around a ThinkGeek Bag of Holding messenger tote, though I may or may not have it on me. I'm happy to answer general questions, but if you ask me about a project that hasn't been in my news lately, you'll probably get a "I haven't looked at it in a while, sorry" response along with whatever other info you can already find here on the website. See you there!

Yes, I realize it's been a pretty dry year. Looking back, Tactics Ogre is really the only thing I've released, which makes me sad. However, I'm expecting to release at least three more projects by year's end - hopefully four, and maybe even more. One of these is Laplace's Demon, which I'd wanted to get out for Halloween but I've been really busy and haven't had time to finish its script edit. Another is Super Nazo Puyo 2, which has been placed on the backburner while I work on more important stuff but really only needs a week or two of hard work before it's ready to be playtested. Of course there's also Ancient Magic, whose betatest is progressing smoothly, and I've got at least one or two other things baking quickly in the oven.
I've also gone back to school. I'm happy with my degrees but they're not making me any money, so I'm going to spend a few years and get a BS in computer science, which is probably what I should have done in the first place. The two classes I've been taking this semester and the 40-hour work week I'm doing over the weekend have put a vicegrip on my free time of late, but somehow I still find time for the hobby. I'm not going to promise a Christmas run-up like several years back, when I released a new translation every two weeks for two or three months straight, and now that I think of it I haven't even *considered* a Christmas release. I have something I'd certainly like to launch on the big 12-25, but I don't know if it'd be possible to get it ready in time... We'll see. Whether or not I have a Christmas release for you all, the rest of the year promises to be fruitful, and again, I apologize for the recent drought.

I was browsing YouTube a month or so ago for silly House of the Dead 2 stuff when I came across a band named after the game's infamous "Suffer, like G did" line. The recordings were shaky cams of live performances and weren't of very good quality, but the band has since released a three-track EP which you can download on their website. I've been taken completely aback by their stuff, as it's actually really good! Very jazzy. So yeah, this is a plug. Grab the EP (it's free) and if you like them, then spread the word.
