It's an SFC block puzzler, which takes pages from the books of Columns and Puyo Puyo (which both take pages from Tetris' book.) You stack up the blocks, clearing blocks with the same type icons, dealing damage to your opponent until one of you is killed. It's a pretty fun game, I definately recommend you checking it out if you're at all a fan of puzzle games :)
